Hike to Donner Peak

Donner Pass over the Sierra is less than an hour’s drive from Grass Valley and Wolf Creek Lodge.
Five members of the community hiked from US40 at Donner Pass up to Donner Peak –one of the best picnic spots anywhere. Along the way there are many points of historical and current interest in this focal point for transportation and snow sports.
From the peak there were great views of Donner Lake, US 40, I80 and the rail road.
Some members even heard the ghost train as it went through the old abandoned tunnel.
