Site Visit – April

May 6, 2012

Our April community construction site visit was the most fun yet because there was so much to see! After all the many years of looking at plans, people can now walk into their homes and see the view from their windows, at least from the 1st floor. By May’s monthly meeting weekend (May 19) there should be stairs in place to get up the 2nd and 3rd floors to see those views. Come up a see the real thing and enjoy our beautiful spring weather. And yes, we really are looking to move-in this fall! (Reported by Katie McCamant)

Construction Update – May

May 4, 2012

Well, April was certainly an exciting month for the Lodge as we saw the building grow by leaps and bounds. By the time you read this, they’ll have set the roof trusses on the 3rd floor. Our framing subcontractor is building wall panels in their warehouse, which are then trucked to the site in big bundles and lifted into place. Dale, our Job Supe, is cracking the whip to keep the schedule moving for an early fall move-in, all the while keeping a close eye on quality. (Reported by Katie McCamant)

Cabinet Maker

May 1, 2012

The kitchen cabinets for the common kitchen and the kitchens in the individual homes at Wolf  Creek Lodge will be made by a local company.  The Cabinet Company of Grass Valley recently welcomed members of the community to their woodworking shop.  There was a large project in progress that day, so we were able to watch cabinets being built.  It was fun to see the amazing computerized equipment and talk to our cabinetmakers.

Exhibiting at UU District Assembly – Oakland

March 12, 2012

Wolf Creek Lodge of Grass Valley, CA will have a table in the Exhibition Hall at the District Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Pacific Central District on Saturday, April 28th in the Oakland Airport Hilton Hotel. We expect that access will be restricted to those registered for the District Assembly.

We will encourage the member congregations of PCD to host a cohousing forum in their congregations. Cohousing is consistent with Unitarian Universalist principles such as the “interdependent web of all existence”, “the inherent worth and dignity of every person” and “the use of the democratic process”.
