The day after Wolf Creek Lodge’s monthly meeting in June, Suzanne Marriott and I decided to play tourist at Grass Valley’s gorgeous and historic Empire Mine State Park, a gold rush era processing gold mine.
Now Grass Valley’s Wolf Creek Lodge, with 30 residences designed for older adults, is on track to open next summer. It will be the country’s fourth elder co-housing complex, but according to the Co-housing Association of the United States, another dozen are in the planning stages.

In June, some of the Wolf Creek Lodge Bay Area contingent met for lunch at Horatio’s on the San Leandro Marina. The group included, Mike and Terry Preston (closest to the camera), Amy Robbins (right, by window) and Suzanne Marriott (left, by window).

July 10 Bay Area members of Wolf Creek Lodge will meet at 5:00 for a barbeque social gathering in Concord. Members from Berkeley, Hayward, Marin Co., Castro Valley and Concord will be attending.
By noon today, the crew had poured our first real building foundation concrete for Wolf Creek Lodge Cohousing–the footings for the columns and walls of the concrete, underground garage.
